Foxie Flies Into The Final Three
Alpha Foxtrot – THE Concorde at Filton – was filmed recently by the BBC for The Culture Show to represent the Concorde Fleet in the search for the public’s favourite Great British Design Icon.
Presenter Jonathan Glancey – a pilot himself – showed his enthusiasm for Concorde as he talked to camera far beyond the time constraints of the broadcast slot and chatted with the volunteers.
Former Concorde Pilot Christopher Orlebar – author of “The Concorde Story” – kindly spent the day at Concorde at Filton to the delight of the coach party visiting that afternoon!
Voted into the final three from an original choice of 25 and a shortlist of 10, Concorde is poised to claim the honour of being chosen as the public’s favourite Great British Design Icon.
Every vote counts in the final, and the poll is open until midnight on Sunday 12th March. The winner will be announced on The Culture Show on BBC2 on Thursday 16 March 2006 at 7pm.
